Dr. Lara Howard is a highly qualified psychiatrist specialising in perinatal, infant, child, and adolescent mental health. With over 15 years of clinical experience, she is dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating complex mental health challenges, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and developmental trauma. Dr. Howard completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales and earned fellowship status with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). She also holds advanced certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Her extensive training includes psychotherapeutic approaches such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), attachment-based therapies, and trauma-informed care. Currently, Dr. Howard serves as the Acting Clinical Director at the Perinatal, Child, and Youth Mental Health Service (PCYMHS) in Western Sydney. Her leadership focuses on developing innovative mental health services, including establishing complex trauma clinics and implementing early intervention models for neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD. Passionate about evidence-based care, Dr. Howard is a certified specialist in administering diagnostic tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-II) and the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI-R). Her approach blends medical expertise with compassionate, family-centred care, ensuring tailored treatment plans that support long-term well-being.
