
About Dr Phillip O’Rourke
Dr Phillip O’Rourke is Senior Adult and Addictions Psychiatrist. His academic background includes a Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, Masters in Psychiatry and Bachelor Degrees in Arts and Theology. He has practised psychiatry in metropolitan, urban, rural and remote communities. He has a special interest in Aboriginal Mental Health and Wellbeing, having worked in the Gulf Country of Queensland where he was the Clinical Director of Mental Health in North West Hospital and Health Service, Mt Isa Queensland. He has worked with indigenous communities in Blacktown, Broken Hill and Kalgoorlie. He has worked in private and public mental health services including NSW Justice and Forensic Mental Health focusing on Addictions and pharmacotherapy for opiate dependency.
During COVID-19, Dr O’Rourke has provided locum support for Mental Health Services in Wollongong, Hobart, Perth and Kalgoorlie. These positions have offered a wide exposure to the needs many people have in accessing Mental Health Services, in particular people with ADHD having difficulty in accessing assessments and treatments. He has extensive experience is assessing patients with addictions, gambling problems and ADHD.
